Invitation to a public lecture on "Power, Indigenous People, and Social Thought: A Critical Approach" by Dr. Carlos Guzmán Böckler at the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala, 25 February, 2015.

At the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the first edition of the book Guatemala: Una Interpretación Histórico-Social [Guatemala: A Social and Historical Interpretation], Dr. Carlos Guzmán Böckler will be holding a public lecture under the title "Power, Indigenous People and Social Thought: A Critical Approach" at the School of History of the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala on February 25, 2015.

During the lecture, Dr. Carlos Guzmán Böckler will discuss the history of social thought in Guatemala, drawing particular attention to the epistemological rupture at the beginning of the 1970s, as a result of this and other seminal books, and its political consequences in terms of social mobilization. Students and academics, as well as anyone interested in Guatemalan social and political thought, are kindly invited to attend.

The conference is organized by the Institute of Historical, Anthropological and Archeological Studies of the School of History of the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala, as well as by the research project "Ethnic Power Relations and Conflict", funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and Swiss Development Agency.
