The EPR Dataset Family provides data on ethnic groups’ access to state power, their settlement patterns, links to rebel organizations, transborder ethnic kin relations, ethnic refugee groups, and intraethnic cleavages. The updated version of the EPR dataset covers the years from 1946 through 2017 and includes all countries of the world with a population of at least 250'000 people.

The update process drew on the in-depth knowledge of a large number of country experts and research assistants, inclduing the regional expertise of the R4D partner institutions in Côte d'Ivoire, Guatemala, Egypt, India and Zambia.
