Official launch of the R4D project on Ethnic Power Relations and Conflict

The R4D project on `Ethnic Power Relation and Conflict in Fragile States' has been officially launched last week at a meeting in Switzerland.

Last week, at a meeting in the Swiss municipality of Ittingen bringing together researchers from Switzerland and developing countries, as well as practioners, policy-makers and representatives of the supporting institutions, the R4D research project on "Ethnic Power Relations and Conflict in Fragile States" has been officially launched.

Of a duration of up to six years, this research project aims at increasing scientific knowledge on the relationship between political and economic inequalities and political instability and conflict. Simultaneously, it also has as a key objective to enhance knowledge transfer to national governments, civil society organizations and international stakeholders with a view to reducing the risk of conflict and mitigating its consequences.

The project is supported by a financial grant from the Swiss Programme for Research on Global Issues for Development (external page R4D), a joint initiative of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (external page SDC) and the Swiss National Science Foundation (external page SNSF).
